Discover Forest Beach: Hilton Head’s Family Seaside Community
Forest Beach real estate is one of the most popular tourist destinations on Hilton Head Island. It is an ungated community situated along three miles of beach on the island’s eastern shore. It is in the heart of Hilton Head and offers easy access to all island amenities, and residents here do not have to leave Forest Beach real estate to enjoy beautiful beaches, fine dining, and shopping.
History
Forest Beach is one of the island’s original beach communities and home to some of its oldest beachfront homes. These homes have been modernized over time but still retain the original Low Country architecture of the island.
Forest Beach was part of Charles Frasier’s original vision for the island.
He set out to create a vacation destination that preserved the area’s natural beauty instead of destroying it. This was a sharp departure from the seaside developments of the time that favored high-rise hotels and grid-lined neighborhoods.
Instead, the new development included curved roads and cul-de-sacs with widely spaced, low-slung homes. Mature trees and interconnected footpaths to the beach became the standard style.
Since its inception, Hilton Head has been the benchmark for oceanside developments worldwide.
